Teenager killed while overtaking a lorry

A nineteen-year-old boy was run over by a lorry while he was attempting to overtake it near Periyanaickenpalayam, some 20 kilometres from Coimbatore, today.
Ilango, a Class XII student, was returning home after dropping his aunt at her office this morning. Since he had to go to school, he tried to overtake a lorry, and took to the left side of the vehicle.
The vehicle skidded and fell on the road, and in a flash, the lorry ran over him, killing Ilango on the spot.
The body was brought to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem. The lorry driver, Velusamy, was arrested and the lorry was impounded. Further investigations are on.
