Irked over the slapping of a student by a member of the college administration, the students of KSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, on Saturday staged a demonstration inside the college premises.

According to one of the students, a fee of Rs.250 was collected from them as partial refundable advance for the graduation cape rented for the graduation ceremony. Despite assurances from the management that Rs.200 would be refunded, nothing was returned, and the authorities informed the students that the money had been taken for the alumni association of the college.

When one of the students raised the issue with the authorities, he was reportedly slapped by a staff, which agitated the rest of the students and led to the protests against the management.

The students demanded that the person who slapped the student should apologise to him, and declared that they would leave the premises only after an apology is given.

They were later pacified by the police officials who arrived at the spot.
