Rs.25,000 crores invested in Tamil Nadu, says Chief Minister

Chennai: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced in the state assembly that, out of the Rs.2,42,160 crores investments that was promised through the 98 MoUs that were signed at the Global Investors Meet last year, 64 companies have commenced work, at an investment of Rs.87,601 crores.
Jayalalithaa said that Rs.25,020 crores have been invested so far, and the remaining companies have started preliminary works.
In a slew of announcements under Rule 110, the chief minister said that a 12,000 square feet Biotechnology Incubation Centre will be set up in Chennai, to encourage start-ups in the field. Also in the pipelines is a world-class 245-acre Aerospace Park, to be built at Sriperumbudur SIPCOT complex, and infrastructure development at the 2300 square feet SIPCOT Cheyyar industrial complex in Thiruvannmalai district, to be completed in two years.
The veterinary ambulance scheme, launched in five districts, will now be extended to the remaining 27 districts in the state. The chief minister also announced that the Institute of Veterinary Preventive Medicine in Ranipet will be upgraded at a cost of Rs.36.66 crores.
