LIC branches to adopt schools

Every branch of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) would adopt a school and support it with infrastructure. The Corporation would also adopt a village and provide health care facilities there depending on requirement.
The Corporation, that is celebrating its diamond jubilee, has decided series of programmes as part of the celebrations. It would provide ambulance to an NGO and plant 100 saplings across Coimbatore.
A press release from LIC said the Coimbatore division, comprising Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, and Nilgiris districts, has 26 branches. Starting September 1, the corporation is celebrating insurance week.
A medical camp for the public, awareness programme on road safety, various contests for school and college students have also been planned, the release added.
Last financial year (2015-2016), the Coimbatore division registered first premium income of Rs. 229.76 crores. LIC is targeting to register first premium income of Rs. 300 crores this financial year.
