Chennai: IT employees from Tamil Nadu, working in Bengaluru, who had come home for a long Vinayaka Chaturti weekend find themselves stranded at the borders even as tension over the Cauvery water continues to affect both the states.

Hosur continues to be the worst hit, with most IT employees not being able to reach their offices for the second consecutive day. Sathyamangalam, in Erode district, too saw similar scenes, with labourers being unable to cross the borders.

Losses due to stoppage of truck movement have already crossed several hundreds of crores, with even private vehicles not being permitted to cross the borders. A senior official of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation said that bus services will return to normalcy only after the tension diffuses.

Unlike Karnataka, the situation in Tamil Nadu continues to be relatively peaceful with only a few sporadic incidents of protests being reported from various parts of the state.
