Miscreants attempted to smuggle out sandalwood trees at two places on Race Course road in the city. Although they successfully managed to cut down the full-grown trees, they were unable to smuggle them out thanks to the alarm raised by security guards.

In the early hours of Sunday, some unidentified persons had cut down a 10-year-old sandalwood tree on the walking track of the Race Course. However, they were not able to smuggle the sandalwood out, as the security guards of a nearby star hotel raised alarm, at which the gang ran away.

Meanwhile an attempt was made to axe another tree just a few metres away from the first incident. Police suspect that it would have occurred around 3 AM.
