The violent fallout of the murder of Hindu Munnani leader Sasikumar last night, in Coimbatore, has prompted members of various political parties to petition District Collector T N Hariharan to find the culprits soon and help restore calm in the city.

Petitioning the Collector today, former CPI MLA M Arumugam urged the district administration to intervene soon.
“The violence can be brought down only if the accused are nabbed immediately,” he said.

He claimed that some anti-social elements were using the murder to get political mileage by attacking minorities. “We will stage a demonstration tomorrow condemning the attack,” said Arumugam.

Members from the DMK, DMDK, TMC, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, CPI and CPM were also represented in the petition.
