The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) today thanked Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Seetharaman for exempting job working units from fulfillment of export obligation under an EPCG scheme, a long pending demand of exporters.

The notice issued by Director General of Foreign Trade in this regard has come as a great relief to the job working units in the Tiruppur Cluster, TEA president A Shaktivel said in a statement here.

Job working units are the backbone of garment exporting centres as only about 30 of the latter have integrated facilities, while others depend on job working units for their manufacturing activities.

Shaktivel said that a letter of gratitude was sent to the minister for issuing the necessary exemption permissions.
