Alleging that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu was deteriorating by the day, BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan said that a rising trend of targeting workers of various Hindu outfits could now be seen in the State.

Talking to reporters here tonight, after visiting the house of the slain Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar in Thudiyalur, Tamilisai blamed the police department for its failure to provide protection despite Sasikumar seeking help following threats to his life. It resulted in him being slain by four assailants on his way home at midnight on Thursday.

She used the occasion to ask the government to fill up the nearly 20,000 vacancies in the police department. Tamilisai also sought a Rs 25 lakh solatium to the bereaved family from the government and a government job for the deceased’s wife, Yamuna.

When asked the violence during the funeral procession, Tamilisai blamed anti-social elements and said that no members from Hindu outfits were involved in such criminal activities.
