Thieves steal gold, money from nurse’s house

Thanjavur: Thieves broke into the house of a nurse in Kumbakonam yesterday and decamped with 25 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 2,000.

Dhanalakshmi, 58, residing at Veeraiya Nagar in Kumbakonam and working at the municipal dispensary as nurse was at work when the burglary took place. Her husband Adithan was reportedly in the house, sleeping.

Her son, Balakumar, who returned from college in the evening, found the bureau with the valuables broken open. On being informed, Dhanalakshmi rushed back to home and found her jewellery and money stolen.

Based on her complaint, the Kumbakonam East Police registered a case and further investigation is on.
