Collector, SP inspect counting centres in Thanjavur

District Collector A. Annadurai today inspected the counting centres to be set up in Thanjavur for the local body polls and checked the security and safety aspects, and basic amenities to be provided there. He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police J. Mahesh.

Annadurai said training for the polling personnel for Thanjavur corporation will be held at Kundavai Nachiar Government College for Women in Thanjavur, while counting of votes for the Thanjavur Corporation will be held at Rajah Serfoji Government Arts College in Thanjavur.

Counting of votes for Thanjavur panchayat union will be taken up at St Antony’s Higher Secondary School in Thanjavur and counting of votes for the nine town panchayats – Vallam, Orathanadu, Thiruvaiyar, Thirukkattupalli, Mela Thiruppanthuruthi, Madukkur, Ayyampettai, Melattur and Ammapettai – will be taken up at Kundavai Nachiar Government Arts College for Women, he said.

“We checked the security and safety aspects, and basic amenities such as electricity connections, toilet and drinking water facilities to be provided at these centres,” Annadurai added.
