The City Police, on Friday, warned printers against printing posters intended to provoke communal tension.

At a review meeting with the owners of printing presses at the office of the police commissioner, printers were also advised to report immediately to the police if persons affiliated to religious outfits approached them to print such posters or flex boards. The police also warned that action would be taken against the printers if they obliged such printing requests.

The suggestion was made based on a tip-off to the police that some religious outfits were planning to continue creating unrest in Coimbatore, following the murder of Hindu Munnani leader C Sasikumar on September 22.

Notably, police have arrested around 162 persons in connection with the riots during the funeral procession of Sasikumar.
