Farmer hangs self after hanging daughter

A 65-year old farmer committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his house, after hanging his mentally challenged daughter in his house near Palladam in Tirupur district today.
According to police, Velusamy’ son Shanmugham, who is staying some distance away, noticed that the front door of the house in Ammapalayam closed for a long time. He and his neighbours peeped through the window only to see Velusamy hanging. They also noticed his 32-year old daughter, Annaporani, hanging in another room.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them for post mortem. Quoting neighbours, police said that Velusamy appeared dejected after the death of his wife three months ago and worried about his daughter.
