Police trace kidnapped baby in an hour

Acting swiftly, rural police today succeeded in tracing a one-year-old within one hour of his abduction by a teenage girl in Periyanaickenpalayam on the outskirts of the city.
According to police, Ahmed Jagir’s grandfather, Mohammed, took him to the market, when a girl, about 16, came near them and started playing with the baby.
Much to shock of the Mohammed, the child and the girl were soon missing. He and the father of the child, Shahul Hamid, immediately alerted the police, who formed two teams and combed the area.
The police managed to trace both the girl and child at some distance and handed the baby over to the family. The girl seems mentally deranged and further investigations are on, police said.
