A labourer who reportedly suffered a major electric shock while working at a construction site here petitioned the District Collector T N Hariharan today seeking compensation.

According to S. Nachimuthu (30), a resident of Uppilipalayam, he was working at the site belonging to a Sakthivel when the accident took place. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering severe burns.

“I have filed a complaint with the Labour Commission and they have ordered that compensation be provided to me,” he said.

However, he alleged that Sakthivel has failed to provide the compensation amount in time.

“I request the authorities to intervene and help me get my compensation soon,” he said in the petition.
