Two drown in Arasalar river

In separate incidents, two persons drowned while bathing in river in Kumbakonam.
A. Ravichandran, 38, a Chennai-based cloth vendor was bathing in the Arasalar river in Vailayapettai near Kumbakonam when he drowned. Ravichandran was here in the town along with his friend Sekhar to sell new clothes on the occasion of Diwali.
In the second incident, 70-year-old Krishnamurthy, resident of Mettu street in Aerakarami near Kumbakonam drowned while he was bathing in the Cauvery river at Sakkara padithurai (bathing ghat) today.
Fire and rescue personnel could not retrieve the bodies.
