Encroachments from reserved sites evicted

In a week-long drive to evict encroachments across all the five zones here, the City Corporation has evicted encroachments from 1.46 acres of reserved sites, worth about Rs.15.25 crores. Signage boards have been erected to ward off offenders in these reclaimed site.

A 15 cent of land in Ramakrishna Nagar, 20 cents in New Thillai Nagar, 35 cents (worth about Rs.3.5 crores) of land assigned as public utility area and 10 cents of public utility area in Ramakrishnanagar, 44.5 cent of public utility area (worth about Rs.4.5 crores) near Residency in East zone are some of the reclaimed reserved sites.

In south zone 50 cents of reserved sites (worth about Rs.5 crores) in Gandhi Nagar and in Central zone 10 cents of reserved site in Ramalinga Jothi Nagar and in South zone are also reclaimed and signage boards put up.

“The special drive will continue and the remaining encroachments in the reserved sites will be evicted,” the Corporation Commissioner said.
