Rs. 124.45 crore worth farmer loans waived so far

The state government headed by CM Jayalalithaa has waived farmer loans worth Rs. 124.45 crores in the seven months since it returned to power last May, Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani said today.

By this waiver of loans from cooperative banks, 23,414 small and medium farmers were benefited, Velumani said in his address during the 63rd Cooperative Week celebrations held here this evening.

The minister distributed welfare schemes and loans worth Rs. 3.28 crores to 72 beneficiaries, including differently-abled, SHGs, towards housing and industry, and marriage assistance.

He also distributed certificates to winners in the sports competitions organised in connection with the week and awards to cooperatives banks for their meritorious services.
