Chennai: In a yet another attempt to spread false news using the web platform, some miscreants have reportedly circulated a WhatsApp text stating that senior comedian of Tamil cinema, Goundamani, had a heart attack and passed away in Chennai.

The text circulated, along with a picture of people offering last rites to a glass coffin, was buzzing on WhatsApp and other social media platforms creating confusion. However, an official statement from Goundamani’s PR man has revealed that the actor is fine and is working on his next project.

In a statement, Vijay Murali, the PR of the veteran actor, said that the actor, who is working on his next venture would also be briefing the press at the audio launch of his next yet to be titled film.

“This has become a habit for a few people to spread the same fake news over and over again every two months,” he said, requesting people to not forward such hoax messages without the right information.

This is not the first time that the actor has been the target of such messages, with the most recent such incident being in September. The actor gave a fitting reply through his PR then calling the miscreants “good-hearted people” who had no other work.

Comedians are subject to such news and Goundamni’s close aide and fellow comedian Senthil was also dragged into a similar mess recently. But unlike the cool approach of Goundamani, Senthil sought to take legal action against the miscreants.
