Central government official reviews demonetisation impact on public

A senior central government official today directed banks to take steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of money to dispense in ATMs in rural areas.

At a review meeting to assess the impact of demonetisation on the public, particularly in rural areas, deputy secretary of Urban Development M Janaki asked bank officials to take steps to disburse Rs 100 and Rs 2,000 notes to the public without any problem.

She said that feedback from representatives of cross sections of society, including farmers associations, industry associations, SMEs, trade bodies and the common man, will be compiled and the report will be submitted to the government. District collector TN Hariharan, officials from the IT department, senior bank officials and NABARD were present at the meeting.
