Inaugurating the 8th edition of the National Foundry Conclave 2016, themed Structure for Excellence, in Coimbatore today, he added that the automotive industry has seen rapid progress over the years.

However, he claimed that since regulations were being revised, the automotive industry and the dependent industry, including the foundry industry, have to gear themselves to excel in the global market.

He pointed out that with the announcement of incentivising electric automobile vehicle manufacturers in the country, the Government of India has sent a strong message to industry stakeholders on the country’s focus towards a sustainable future.

In order to reduce pollution, Shekar opined that the government had to bring down policies for importing fuel that is compliant to Euro six ratings, which are to be implemented in the country by 2020.
