An assistance of Rs.1.14 crore has been given to 4,291 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Farmers Security Scheme in the district so far.
Assistance for marriage, delivery, old age pension, accident and injury, natural death and funeral expenses and educational assistance was given to the farmers and agricultural labourers in the age group of 18 and 65 years. Those small and marginal farmers having 2.5 acre of wet land and five acres of dry land under direct cultivation were eligible to become members to avail the assistance, an official release said.
“Men are getting marriage an assistance of Rs.5,000 under the scheme and women Rs.10,000. So far, about Rs.1.14 crore have been disbursed among the beneficiaries in the district,” it said.
Stating that 65-year-old Arumughathal of Theethipalayam in the rural limits was recently given Rs.one lakh, as she lost her husband three months ago, the release said that Gayathri, who is pursuing BA in a private college is being given Rs.1,750 per year as educational assistance.
