Four arrested for housebreaking and loot

Four youths were arrested on charges of housebreaking and looting valuables from a house in Podanur on the outskirts, a couple of days ago.

The arrest was based on a complaint made by Vani Raman who found her house broken into and valuables, including watches, Rs 2,000, two sovereign of gold ornaments and some silver articles missing, when she returned from Chennai yesterday, police said.

Investigation led to the arrest of Kannan, Sarfuddin, Syed Ali and Zakir Hussain, aged between 25 and 35. They were produced before a court and remanded to custody. A watch and Rs 2,000 were recovered in their possession.

Investigations are on in another house breaking in Kavundampalayam in the city, in which gold ornaments weighing 10 sovereign was looted.
