The BJP is ready to support the present leadership in Tamil Nadu for any positive and constructive endeavour, party National General Secretary, P. Muralidhar Rao said today.

“We are expecting a transparent and corruption-free governance and smooth development of Tamil Nadu under the new leadership. We do not want to have any prejudice or any prejudgment. The BJP feels that a new chapter can be opened in Tamil Nadu,” Rao told reporters here.

He was here to address the State executive committee of party’s youth wing, BJYM.

Asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s reaction on IT raids on former Chief Secretary P. Rama Mohan Rao’s house, the BJP leader said, “when the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is not speaking about it and the State opposition leader not condemning it, a Chief Minister of a faraway State targeting the Central Government is highly condemnable”.

“Those condemning action by IT Department are supporting corruption, black money and sand mafia,” he added.
Stating that his party supported jallikkattu, he said if there were any distortions or wrong practices, they could be corrected and monitored.

On demonetisation, Rao said that all the problems would be solved soon. “The Government under Modi’s leadership will do two things: Firstly, all problems will be sorted out after December 30. Secondly, people who have cooperated, especially normal people like farmers, will be rewarded with new aids from the Government.”

On Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against Narendra Modi, Rao quipped “Modi is the right person to answer and he has already replied.”
