The district administration in association with the City Corporation has removed over 2,300 illegally erected sign boards and advertisement boards at various places in and around the city in the last two months.

The drive against the illegal boards and flexes was carried out by the Collector T N Hariharan and Corporation Commissioner Vijayakarthikeyan based on orders by the Madras High Court a few months ago.

Accordingly, 2,383 boards have been removed from October onwards and 35 boards alone were dismantled today from Avanashi Main Road, Avanashi Highway and other busy commercial streets in the city, official sources said.

Similar drives against such boards will continue as it obstructed the movement of the public and also traffic.
