The City Traffic police today celebrated Pongal with the inmates of Mercy Home that takes care of HIV affected kids.

The personnel, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Saravanan, presented the kids with new clothes and gifts.

The home, located near Nanjundapuram here, has 20 boys and 20 girls. “The kids are regularly being monitored by the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH),” Saravanan said.

Department members also held cultural programmes to entertain the kids. “We distributed sugarcane, pongal and gifts to the kids. Such programmes make them feel good. They don’t feel left out,” he added.
