It appears to be a whole lot of violations buried deep down by Parsn constructions, with the latest one of a water channel passing through the property being diverted and partially buried.

S Kanagasundaram, a resident in the gated community Parsn Sesh Nestle campus and former president of the Association of Licensed Building Surveyors alleges that the builders have built a compound wall and blocked the free flow of a water channel. “Inside the compound, the channel looks like buried and a building has been raised on one part of it,” he said. The gated community is blocking public access to a scheme road connecting Nanjundapuram Road to Ukkadam.

Kanagasundaram who has been residing there for the last 20 years said, “There are a series of violations inside this gated community but blocking a waterway and public road are grave.” Constructors have blocked the road with iron gates and they are making entry and exit difficult. “Despite there being a High Court ruling that water channels should not be disturbed, these constructors have violated it.”

Kanagasundaram has faced heavy odds fighting such irregularities on the campus. “Despite being a licensed building surveyor, the corporation surveyor denied me access to files and maps,” he says. Senior corporation officials even threatened him, asking him to stop filing RTIs on the issue.

He says he learnt about the water channel when he accidentally got to see a registration document. “There, it is clearly mentioned that a water channel existed.” But his continuous requests to the constructors have not got any response, he says.

No action has been so far on the scheme road for which a tripartite meeting was held almost a month ago. “Once the road is opened, people from Nanjundapuram can reach Ukkadam easily,” he says. He accuses corporation officials of being hand in glove with the builders and prolonging actions deliberately.

When the Town Planning Officer was requested to comment on this, he said that his chief is the one to comment. And the chief officer was not available for comment.

Recently five houses in the community were asked to cut their corners for better road visibility.

Asked about these allegations Assistant Town Planning Officer V Vimala said, “We haven’t received any complaints as yet regarding burying of the water channel. Regarding the scheme road, that doesn’t exist. The Parsn Apartments have made it private road through a government order awarded to them years back.”
