The BJP Government at the Centre had always been against farmer interests and this was evident in the firing in Madhya Pradesh yesterday where five farmers were killed, CPI leader D Pandian said today.

The government had never bothered to meet the farmers from Tamil Nadu agitating in Delhi even after 40 days, he told mediapersons here.

The BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh is an extension of the Centre and went one step further and shot dead five farmers demanding just things, he added.

Asked about the political situation in the State, Pandian, here to attend the two-day party state committee, said that from the day BJP came to power at the Centre, Tamil Nadu has been facing a ‘testing time’ politically and even nature has not been kind. The State had been reeling under drought or flood for the last three years, and the present drought is now never ever witnessed in the last 140 years.

Alleging that Centre was always working against the interests and rights of the State like in the case of farmers and NEET, he said the State Government was being a mute spectator and never willing to act.

On supporting the DMK, he said the CPI would cooperate with any party that was against BJP. “This should not be treated as an alliance just for the elections,” he added.
