Sukesh Chandrashekhar, allegedly the middleman of AIADMK leader T T V Dinakaran to get `two leaves’ election symbol back, was today produced before a Judicial Magistrate Court here in connection with cheating a merchant of Rs.2.4 lakh.

Sukesh, who was in Tihar jail in Delhi, was brought on transit warrant as part of investigation in a case filed by one Rajavelu, a kitchen equipment merchant of Ganapati in the city in 2010.

Sukesh reportedly called Rajavelu stating that he was speaking from Karnataka Chief Minister’s office, with regard to a tender and took Rs.2.4 lakh promising him award of the tender.

Rajavelu, on realisation of being cheated, lodged a complaint with cyber police, who registered cases against Sukesh and his father Chandrasekhar. Both were arrested and were let out on bail.

The two failed to appear before the 2nd Judicial Magistrate Court here in connection with the case on January 9, following which an arrest warrant was issued.

On learning that Sukesh was arrested by Delhi police with regard to a case of alleged bribing of EC officials in the election symbol case, local police informed their counterparts in Delhi about the case. Delhi police brought Sukesh by train and produced him before the Magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody till June 22.

Sukesh is likely to be taken back to Delhi tomorrow. Meanwhile, the accused has filed a petition seeking bail, which is to be heard on June 12.
