His father has been practising yoga since he was two years old. He is trained by his father T Balasubramaniam. “When he was young he used to join me while I was doing yoga. As he grew up he developed self interest and has now achieved such great heights,” Balasubramaniam. Despite India celebrating Yoga Day, instructors are not supported well, he said, Modernisation of yoga by combining it with other exercises will not help the practitioners because yoga gives inner strength while other exercises burn down calories, he added.

Sathya is studying PG Diploma in yoga at Annamalai University where he said that the curriculum is mostly theoretical.”Many study considering commercial gains.” Sathya handles classes at his father’s yoga centre, Amrutha Yoga Centre in Sai Baba Colony for people of all ages.

He is now preparing for International Yoga Championship to be held at Pondicherry next January.
