From marriage album to wedding highlights videos, it is now a total sea change. The recently Punjabi pre-wedding shoot of bride went viral, indicating how quickly things are changing.

People are ready to spend a lot, especially on photography and videography making it a celebration for all.

The current trend is candid photography. Unlike earlier where there was the need to pose, the photographer now needs to see and conjecture what will happen next. And these unexpected clicks should be or ought to be catchy, most natural. There is no additional lighting, giving a real touch to those moments. Those seeing the photographs will see a different side of theirs.

“Earlier, film rolls were used and the rate was based on the rolls. Digital cameras made things easier. Now we can click as many and take the best among them are selected,” says wedding photographer Anandu Balram.

“Developed cameras and technologies are helping photographers and clients to get what they expect. But there are those who feel that with a digital camera they can be experts and irrespective of the place they are in, be it a religious one, they move around causing much disturbance,” Anandu added.

“We want our day to be remembered and it should be something amazing. That is why we opted for wedding highlights. And it was fun. My friends have done dance programmes. And the best part was when his and my parents performed for a song. We are happy,” says Akshara Karthik.

The fashion of wedding photography is big business as a five-minute video can have a bill of Rs 15,00-35,000.
