Some miscreants decamped with Rs.50,000 belonging to the ruling AIADMK MP, A K Selvaraj, when he was travelling in Nilgiris Express from Chennai to Mettupalayam.

As the train was about to reach Coimbatore around 5.30 AM yesterday, Selvaraj noticed that his bag containing the money was missing and immediately filed a complaint with the Railway Police at the station, police said today.

Since Selvaraj, a Rajya Sabha MP and Party Organisation Secretary, was travelling in a AC coach, police are investigating about the theft by going through the list of passengers and also those who alighted at Tirupur Station, they said.
