Veteran CPIM leader and former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will be the main speaker at the centenary celebrations of late K. Ramani, the founding father of the party in this region, on September 25 here.

A four-time MLA and one-time MP, Ramani was instrumental in organising trade unions in textile mills in this area and himself being a mill worker, was in the trade union activity for 60 years.

Rajya Sabha MP, T.K. Rangarajan, Central Committee member, P. Sampath, former
Members of Parliament P.R. Natarajan and K. Subbarayan will be other speakers.

The meeting is organised as part of a year-long centenary celebrations to make public aware about the services and sacrifices rendered by Ramani.
