Kochi: The Dr Abdul Kalam Marg here is one of the favorite destinations of people to spend leisure time.

Located in the backdrop of the backwaters, the place is a symbol of tremendous peace and tranquility despite the large crowd that turns up regularly.

Tired of shopping at the nearby Broadway, most of the people make it a point to take a break here to enjoy the cool sea breeze.

Be it summer, monsoon or winter, the place is ideal for relaxing. It is a rare experience to view the fishnets and ships and country boats moving elegantly on the backwaters.

The sight of the gap which links the backwaters to the sea is fascinating to watch from here.

It was this gap which had attracted the legendary British marine engineer Sir Robert Bristow to work on creating a ship channel to make Kochi a rare international natural port.

The visitors to the Marg can also kill their hunger at numerous eateries in the mini-malls behind the Marg.
