No lands allotted for exploring petro chemicals: Minister

Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan today denied reports that lands have been allotted for exploring petro chemicals in Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts in the State.

Replying to a specific question, Radhakrishnan said that no land in these districts were allocated to any body or firm for the purpose. “As announced by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy, the Government will not take any steps which affected the interests of farmers,” he said.

The water from Amaravathi Dam is being released from today following the request from farmers in the area, which will be benefit the areas of Tirupur and Karur district, he said.

He also said that the Tenancy Act Bill is expected to be passed soon.
