A city-based hospital will bring out a booklet to create an awareness among the public on bone and joint problems.

To be released on July 30, the booklet written in Tamil, will give the reasons behind the joint and bone problems, remedies to reduce the pain and also its management and treatment, Rex Ortho Hospital Chairman Dr. C. Rex told reporters here.

“It will be useful as majority of women from the age of 50 and men at 60 suffer from a joint or a bone problem including fractures, arthritis, ligament injury and rheumatic disease and are not aware about the management,” he said.

The Hospital, in association with Kovaipudur Brahmana Seva Sabha, will conduct a bone and join day awareness camp on that day, during which a free Bone Mineral Density scan test will be done to mark the beginning of bone and joint celebration week from July 30 to August 6, Dr. Rex said.

One free surgery will be done after identifying a poor and needy patient as part of the celebration on August 4, he added.
