Driver killed, five students hurt as car falls into 100-ft gorge

Udhagamandalam: The driver of car carrying students was killed and five students were injured when the vehicle fell into 100-ft deep gorge near here today.

Gilbert (25) was taking the students to a private matriculation school when he lost control of the car and the vehicle went down into the gorge at Lovedale. He died instantaneously, police said..

The students, including two girls, were seriously injured and admitted to the Government Hospital here. Three of them were later shifted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.

District Collector Innocent Divya visited the hospital and consoled the students who belong to one family.
