13-year-old Atish, a student of Class VII at a private school, today played the drums blindfolded in front of the media persons at the Coimbatore Press Club.
Atish brought his seven-piece drum set and played for nearly 45 minutes. After completing the performance, he said that he did feel a bit uneasy about playing the drums blindfolded, but he managed by following the rhythm.
He began learning drums at the age of six from Ilango, an expert in drums. Sundarrajan, Atish’s father said that the boy had won the first prize in the instrumental music category at state-level. Sundarrajan, himself a singer, couldn’t pursue his interest in music due to financial constraints. But when he noticed that his son was very much interested in music, he decided to encourage it and got him a drums set.
