19-year-old girl student found dead in college well

The body of a 19-year-old girl student was found floating in a well attached to a private college hostel in Mettupalayam today.
The deceased, Divya, was doing her second year B.Com (CA), and was staying at the college hostel. Some security staff and students noticed her body early in the morning today and immediately alerted the college authorities, who informed police.
The Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot along with the police and retrieved the body. The body had had bleeding injuries on the nose and ear. The police have also recovered a letter allegedly written by Divya. Further investigations are on.
Divya’s parents, who live in a village near Kothagiri in the Nilgiris district, were informed and the body was taken to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for post mortem.
