19-year-old succumbs to dengue, 52-year-old to H1N1

A 19-year-old girl died of dengue in a private hospital here on Friday.

Keerthana from Karumathampatti in the rural limits was admitted to the hospital some two days ago, for high fever and was tested positive for dengue. In spite of best efforts by doctors, the girl died this morning, police said.

A 52-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment for H1NI flu in the Government Hospital died last evening.

Ranganayaki, a resident of Ganapati, was admitted to the hospital, after she was tested influenza positive in a private hospital. She succumbed in the evening.

Meanwhile, some 82 persons are being treated for fever and seven cases of dengue in the government hospital.

With major outbreak of dengue cases in Kerala, the Health Department here is geared up to take preventive measures to check the spread of the diseases, department sources said.
