2 killed, 6 injured in mishap

Thanjavur:Two women died on the spot and six others sustained serious injuries in Thanjavur today in an accident involving the auto in which they were travelling and a load carrier.
According to sources, all the eight women were returning home from Vazhuthur village near Ayyampettai after attending a funeral, in an auto. When the vehicle near the Sungan Thidal (tollgate), a load carrier sped past the vehicle rubbing it on the right side.
Muthulakshmi (65) and Alliyammal (55) died on the spot, while six others – Malarkodi, Valarmathi, Deivanayagi, Yogeswari, Devi and Kosalai – sustained serious injuries. They have been admitted to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
Thanjavur East police have registered a case. Search is on to nab the load carrier driver.
