5-year-old dies, relatives picket hospital

Relatives of a five-year-boy who died in a private hospital following a mysterious fever, hurled stones at the hospital near Veerapandi in Tirupur district on Friday.

According to police, Ritish was treated in the hospital four days back. He was brought back again this morning as the fever had not come down in spite of taking medicines.

When he was given medicines in the hospital, he swooned immediately. After sometime doctors declared him dead, police added.

Ritish’s parents blamed the hospital for giving wrong treatment. Some of the relatives arrived at the hospital on the Tirupur-Dharapuram Road and resorted to picketing. They also squatted on the road, disrupting vehicular traffic for some time.

In the melee, a person hurled stone at the hospital, breaking the window glass.On information, police rushed to the spot and managed to convince them to disperse.
