A total of 54 police personnel, including 37 women constables, underwent two-day training for the newly created post of receptionist to be posted in all the police stations in the city.

City Police Commissioner A Amalraj initiated the training yesterday. Receptionists will receive the public at stations, accept their grievances and petitions and send them for redressal to higher authorities.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, S Lakshmi took the trainees through the finer points of the new post, such as how to receive, attend and behave with the public who approach with grievances, at the training, which concluded this evening. The second round of training session will be held on December 23 and 24.
