635 kg ganja seized, couple arrested

Police seized 635 kg of ganja, worth lakhs of rupees, from a house in Pattanam on the city outskirts early this morning.
Based on information on supply of ganja from the area, a police team carried out raid in a house that resulted in seizure of large quantity of ganja stored in gunny bags. A couple, identified as Ravi and Thenmozhi, was arrested.
On information Rural SP, Ramya Bharathi rushed to the spot.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that huge quantity of ganja was stored in many houses in various parts of the district, based on which police teams were sent across.
According to police, there have already been a few ganja cases against the couple.
The two have been taken into custody. Further investigations are on to ascertain the sources of supply of such huge quantity.
