8-year old boy dies of swine flu at Coimbatore GH

Coimbatore : An eight-year-old boy died of H1N1 (swine flu) at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday.

N Sanjay, from Samathur in Pollachi in the district, was admitted 10 days ago with suspected dengue fever. However, he was diagnosed with swine flu and was under treatment in the special ward, hospital sources said.

Without responding to treatment, Sanjay breathed his last in the afternoon, they said.

Separately, a two-month-old girl Akshaya, from Periyapalayam in Tirupur district, died of viral fever.

The baby was undergoing treatment in Tirupur Government hospital and was brought to CMCH when her condition worsened last night. But she died before admission, the sources said.

There are two patients undergoing treatment for dengue, four for swine flu and 12 with symptoms swine flu and 61 for viral fever.
