A 12-year old boy met with a watery grave after he drowned in a pond near Vellalore on Saturday.
According to police, Dinesh, a sixth grader and resident of Sungam in the city, had gone to his grand mother’s house in Vellalore. He, along with his friends, had gone to have a bath in a pond at Kakkan Nagar, which was nearly full due to heavy rains.
Dinesh suddenly lost balance and drowned. Attempts by his friends and neighbours to pull him out proved futile, police said.
