It was a nostalgic and happy moment for the 75 alumni students of the Suburban Higher Secondary School’s 1966 batch as they gathered once again at the campus to celebrate their golden jubilee year here on Sunday. Incidentally, 2016 also marks the school’s centennial anniversary.

Laughter and joy echoed through the halls as the past students relived their sweet memories with each other. While more than 20 participants arrived from the northern states, five of them flew down from abroad just to be a part of the joyous occasion.

Kalyani, one of the batch-mates shared how she was conned by her friends in class III, who said that coins could double if they are buried in the ground. “I was cheated once, but it did not happen again,” she said, with an innocent smile.

Amid all the cheers, joy and happy memories, the participants honoured seven of their teachers by adoring them with shawls. The teachers too were genuinely pleased to see their students succeed in life.

One of the highlighting factors of the event was that the students wore attire matching the colour of the uniforms that they wore during their school days. The participants treasured the moments throughout the event.

The alumni include the retired IAS officer K.S. Sripathi, who served as the Chief Secretary and Chief Information Commissioner of the Tamil Nadu, leading doctor, professionals and entrepreneurs.
