Pudukkottai: Members of Thiruvarul Peravai, a forum for promoting communal harmony and religious amity, participated in the Christmas festivities organised at St. Mary’s church in Pudukkottai.

Members of Hindu and Muslim community too took part in the celebrations. A special mass was held on the occasion by the head priest of the church.

For the last 35 years, members of Tiruvarul Peravai and their families have been visiting the church to take part in the celebrations.

“Celebrating and participating in festivities during Christmas and Ramzan would pave way for harmonious co existence and religious amity. Everyone should look beyond religious boundaries and work towards the peaceful coexistence. This practice should be replicated in other places in Tamil Nadu and that is my wish,” said S. Rajamohammed, recipient of Tamil Nadu Government’s Kottai Meeran award for communal harmony and religious amity in 2012.
