Several families, originally from Uttar Pradesh, who have made Coimbatore their home established the Adarsh Uttar Pradesh Samaj in 2008.

Its members celebrate all festivals. Today, several families, around 500 people in all, gathered at Shree Priya Kunj in R.S. Puram to celebrate the festival of colours, Holi.

“Holi is a festival of great importance for us in Uttar Pradesh. Coincidently, the school children and college goers are enjoying their summer holidays. So for all of us it is double celebrations,” Maneshwar Singh, President, Adarsh Uttar Pradesh Samaj said.

Members of the Adarsh Uttar Pradesh Samaj showed up in good numbers and hundreds of young and old men and women participated in the celebrations.

Post the celebrations, short eats and dinner was served. Dinner included a variety of north Indian dishes and sweets. The Adarsh Uttar Pradesh Samaj invited people (non-members) who are originally from the state of Uttar Pradesh and are settled in Coimbatore to join as members.
