After DMDK, is TMC headed for a split?

After the embarrassing developments in the DMDK, where rebel MLAs walked out, disappointed by the party’s decision to join the PWF alliance, a very similar trouble is now brewing in the G.K. Vaasan led Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC).

Voices of opposition and disgruntlement, led by former Congress M.P. Viswanathan, the party General Secretary S.R. Balasubramaniam, and party vice president Peter Alphonse, are getting stronger in the TMC following Vaasan’s abrupt decision to join the DMDK-PWF alliance. While Vaasan is convinced that joining the DMDK-PWF alliance will work favourably for the TMC, his party members are upset that he didn’t discuss with them.

In the event that they walk out, these rebels are very likely to return to Congress. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, led by EVKS Elangovan, has already expressed its willingness to accept the rebel politicians.
